The highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, *Dune: Awakening*, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed films, has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay alongside an exciting opportunity for eager fans: those who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can dive into the game five days earlier on June 5, 2025.

Funcom cited feedback from their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta as the reason for the delay, explaining that the extra time will allow the development team to "cook" the game a bit longer. This additional period will enable them to implement crucial changes discovered during the beta phase, as well as those requested by the community.
Moreover, the delay will facilitate a "large-scale beta weekend next month," giving even more players the chance to experience *Dune: Awakening* and provide valuable feedback before its official launch.
Although the delay might disappoint some fans eager to explore the sands of Arrakis, Funcom is hosting a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This stream will delve deeper into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a glimpse into what players can expect.
At IGN, we're thrilled about *Dune: Awakening*. As we mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that *Dune: Awakening* is one to watch."
