Don't Starve Together Mobile Launch Confirmed, Excludes Netflix

It's been a while since we last discussed the exciting news about Don't Starve Together joining Netflix Games, announced back in June 2024. Today, we have a mix of good and not-so-good updates. The disappointing news is that Don't Starve Together will no longer be coming to Netflix Games. However, the exciting part is that the game is still making its way to mobile platforms on both iOS and Android.

Playdigious, in collaboration with Klei Entertainment, continues to work diligently to bring Don't Starve Together to your mobile devices. This beloved game, known for its eerie, Tim Burton-inspired aesthetic, challenges players to survive on a hostile island as various quirky characters. Your mission is to gather resources and, most crucially, to not starve.

Originally planned as an exclusive release for Netflix Games, Don't Starve Together will now be available globally on iOS and Android through the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store. Although a specific release date hasn't been announced yet, both Klei Entertainment and Playdigious have assured fans that an update is on the horizon.

It appears that the exclusivity agreement with Netflix did not come to fruition. While it's reassuring to know that Don't Starve Together will still reach a global audience, it raises questions about Netflix Games' future dedication to indie titles. Given Don't Starve's stature as a prominent survival indie game, its departure from Netflix is noteworthy. This development, coupled with the removal of other indie exclusives like Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, prompts concerns about the platform's commitment to indie developers.
