Destiny 1 Surprises with Major Update

A Festive Surprise: Unexpected Decorations Appear in Destiny 1's Tower

Seven years after its initial release, Destiny 1's Tower has received a mysterious, unannounced update featuring festive lights and decorations. This unexpected addition has captivated players, sparking speculation about its origins.

Destiny 1, though still accessible, largely ceded the spotlight to its sequel, Destiny 2, in 2017. While Destiny 2 continues to thrive with regular content updates, a dedicated fanbase still enjoys the original game. This unexpected update within the Tower has reignited interest in the legacy title.

On January 5th, players began reporting unusual decorations in the Tower, including Ghost-shaped lights reminiscent of past seasonal events like The Dawning. However, unlike previous events, no new quests or announcements accompanied the decorations. The lack of accompanying content further adds to the mystery.

A Forgotten Event?

The absence of official communication from Bungie has fueled fan theories. Reddit users, including Breshi, pointed towards a scrapped event, "Days of the Dawning," originally planned for 2016. Unused assets from this canceled event bear a striking resemblance to the current Tower decorations, leading many to believe the update is a remnant of this forgotten schedule. It's speculated that a placeholder future date was assigned to the assets, unintentionally triggering their appearance years later.

As of now, Bungie has not commented on this unexpected update. Given that 2017 marked a significant shift in focus to Destiny 2, leaving Destiny 1 largely untouched, this spontaneous decoration is a pleasant surprise for players. While its longevity remains uncertain, players are encouraged to log in and experience this unexpected festive atmosphere before Bungie potentially removes it.
