Defenders Reunion: Marvel Investigates Options

By PenelopeFeb 21,2025

Daredevil's highly anticipated next season is on the horizon, and the creative team is already brainstorming future possibilities, including a potential Defenders reunion.

In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, expressed keen interest in reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—better known as The Defenders.

While nothing is confirmed, Winderbaum stated to EW, "The potential to work within that established universe is incredibly exciting... However, unlike comic books where creative limitations are minimal, we're bound by the realities of working with actors, scheduling, and the immense production scale required to build a cinematic universe, particularly for television."

He continued, "Considering all these factors, the creative possibilities are incredibly appealing, and it's definitely something we're actively exploring."

PlayIt's already known that Daredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Daredevil storyline initiated on Netflix. Netflix previously hosted its own, smaller-scale Marvel universe, featuring shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to revive these characters within Disney's MCU framework via Disney+. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season further solidifies this transition of Netflix heroes to Disney+.

For now, we await the March 4th premiere of Daredevil: Born Again before further speculating on its potential connections to the wider MCU.
