Days Gone Remastered is just around the corner, and Sony's Bend Studio has now detailed several accessibility features coming with the updated release—including an option to lower Game Speed during intense moments.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Bend Studio’s Creative & Product Lead Kevin McAllister walked players through the accessibility features in Days Gone Remastered. Among them is Game Speed, a setting that lets players reduce gameplay speed from 100% down to 75%, 50%, or even 25%. According to McAllister, this feature is especially helpful for players who find high-pressure situations challenging.
“Game Speed is perfect for players who feel overwhelmed in specific scenarios or have trouble executing inputs during intense moments, especially when fighting hordes of Freakers,” McAllister stated. “Since hordes are central to Days Gone’s gameplay—and with our new Horde Assault mode arriving in the remaster—we wanted this unique combat experience to be more accessible to all players.”
Additional accessibility options in Days Gone Remastered include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. The auto-complete QTE option, initially limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
While these improvements are set to launch in Days Gone Remastered, Bend Studio confirmed that most of the new accessibility features will also come to the PC version of Days Gone. Certain options, such as feedback and controller customization, will require a compatible controller to function.
Days Gone Remastered was officially revealed in February, bringing enhanced visuals and extra features like an advanced Photo Mode, permadeath and speedrun options, along with the accessibility upgrades. The remaster of the 2019 motorcycle-themed, post-apocalyptic zombie adventure is nearly here.
Days Gone Remastered launches on April 25, 2025. Owners of the PS4 version of Days Gone can upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for $10.
