Cursed Objects (or "Cursed Possessions") are randomly spawned items in Phasmophobia, their appearance varying based on game mode and settings. Activation requires finding and interacting with them within the location.

Unlike standard equipment, Cursed Objects provide strategic advantages with significant drawbacks. Locating the ghost's preferred area or boosting your team always comes at a cost—substantial sanity loss, temporary blindness, or unexpected "cursed" hunts. Use them judiciously; sometimes, leaving them untouched is the wiser choice. Note that Cursed Objects won't spawn at all difficulty levels or in Challenge Mode.

Phasmophobia currently features seven Cursed Objects, each with unique abilities and debilitating side effects. All significantly reduce the user's sanity. Proximity to the user increases the likelihood of a "cursed hunt" immediately following activation.

Cursed hunts mirror regular hunts but disregard sanity levels, occurring even after a recent hunt. Their extended duration (20 seconds longer) makes escape more challenging, especially at higher difficulty levels.

The following table details each Cursed Object and its effects. This list will be updated with future additions.

Cursed ObjectAbility
Tarot CardsTen randomly generated cards offering buffs, debuffs, or increased ghost activity. The "Death" card, for instance, can trigger a Cursed Hunt.
Ouija BoardFacilitates direct communication with the ghost through specific questions (e.g., location, bone placement, sanity). Questions like "Hide and Seek" or a shattered board initiate a Cursed Hunt.
Haunted MirrorReveals the ghost's favored room. Shattering the mirror triggers a Cursed Hunt.
Music BoxReveals the ghost's location through a triggered event. Extended use initiates a Cursed Hunt.
Summoning CircleSummons and traps the ghost. Always triggers a Cursed Hunt unless a Tier 3 Crucifix is present.

Haunted Mirror

The Haunted Mirror is the safest option, offering significant benefits with minimal risk. It quickly reveals the ghost's location, streamlining evidence gathering, particularly in larger maps. However, prolonged use decreases sanity and shattering it triggers a Cursed Hunt.

Ouija Board

A reliable choice, the Ouija Board directly reveals the ghost's location and bone placement (crucial for "Perfect Investigation" bonuses).

Useful for triggering ghost interactions when evidence gathering is slow. Avoid the heart pin to prevent a Cursed Hunt.
