Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, enhancing your character's strength is crucial, and one of the most effective ways to do so is through the use of Gems. These powerful items provide passive buffs that can significantly boost your performance, especially on higher difficulty levels. You can craft new gems or level up the ones you've already obtained, though the process can seem quite random at first. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to craft and use gems, along with tips to increase your chances of getting the specific gems you desire.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Crafting gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is facilitated through the use of Pyroxene, a key resource you can utilize at any Inn or tent within the game. Once in your room, select the "Create Gems" option, the second from the top, to begin crafting. The process operates on a one-to-one ratio, meaning you can use as many Pyroxene as you have to craft gems. There are five distinct gems you can create, and each Pyroxene has an equal chance of crafting any of these gems.

Upon crafting a new gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent crafts of the same gem type will contribute XP to the base gem, thereby leveling it up and enhancing its effectiveness with each level gained. If you're not particular about specific gems, it's beneficial to use all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems, thereby randomly upgrading them across the board.

For those seeking specific gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that might activate with every single gem crafted. This feature temporarily limits the variety of gems that can be crafted to three randomly selected types. You can cancel this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it increases your chances of activating "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" for the gem you're targeting.

Remember, "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" helps to narrow down the randomness of gem crafting but doesn't eliminate it entirely.

The five gems you can craft are as follows:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range.
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air.
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries.
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated.
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene, essential for gem crafting, can be found scattered throughout the overworld, appearing as distinctive orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will yield one Pyroxene, after which the crystal will vanish. Completing Skirmishes or Battles will cause some Pyroxene to respawn on the overworld map, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously cleared areas as new Pyroxene continuously emerges. Additionally, you may occasionally receive Pyroxene through letters that you can read in your room at an Inn or a tent.
