The strong performance of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 may lead developer Sandfall Interactive to pursue a release on the Switch 2. In a May 2 interview with French YouTuber mistermv, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's future plans following their successful launch.

He explained that the game's achievements have "changed everything," and the team is currently evaluating their next steps. Broche remarked, "Well, given the game's success, it fundamentally alters our outlook."

When questioned about a potential Switch 2 release, he noted that the studio is currently presented with numerous opportunities and is determining which paths to follow. "It's certainly too early to make definitive statements, but we're in a position where many unexpected opportunities are emerging—more than we can handle at once—and we're carefully deciding our priorities. That said, a Switch 2 version is definitely a possibility we find intriguing," Broche elaborated.

Given the upcoming launch of the Switch 2, it would be fitting for this year's highest-rated game to also arrive on the most anticipated handheld console. For now, fans will need to wait and see if they will eventually be able to experience this Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo's new hardware.

Official Merchandise Is Not Available…For Now!

Meanwhile, Sandfall Interactive is receiving a flood of requests and proposals, including one for an official plush toy of a beloved character, Esquie. The studio has informed fans that no official merchandise currently exists and has cautioned against counterfeit products being sold online. In a May 14 post on X (formerly Twitter), they highlighted suspicious websites offering Esquie plushies, clarifying, "Please be aware: any third-party sites selling Esquie plushies are not officially licensed."

They further warned that many of these unauthorized items use AI-generated artwork and advised against purchasing them. Additionally, such offers may be fraudulent. However, the studio confirmed that they are exploring the creation of official Esquie plushies.

The announcement stated, "But here's some positive news to offset the concern: we are actively looking into producing official Esquie plushies and hope to make them available as soon as possible. In the meantime, we ask for your patience—and please avoid scams!"

Fans remain deeply enthusiastic about Expedition 33, and based on Sandfall's recent communication, they can look forward to official merchandise in the future.
