Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
The Problem: Players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, leading to frustration and unwarranted penalties, including Skill Rating (SR) deductions and temporary match bans. This issue emerged despite a major game update in early January 2025.
Developer Response: Raven Software acknowledged the problem on January 6th and initiated an investigation. On January 9th, they announced a temporary measure: Skill Rating penalties and timeouts are suspended for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. Penalties for mid-match disconnections remain in effect.
Impact: This temporary fix mitigates the immediate impact of the bug, preventing unfair penalties for players whose games crash unexpectedly. However, the underlying issue persists, causing ongoing disruption to Ranked play and player frustration. The developers are actively working on a complete resolution.
