Circana's data reveals Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as the top-selling game in the United States for 2024, marking the Call of Duty franchise's sixteenth consecutive year at the top of the US market. This achievement comes despite a slight overall dip in US gaming spending (1.1% year-over-year decrease), attributed by Circana to reduced hardware sales, while add-on content and service spending saw growth of 2% and 6% respectively.
EA Sports College Football 25 claimed the title of most popular sports game, launching to consoles in July.
Black Ops 6 and its companion title, Warzone 2, are set to launch their second season on January 28th, featuring a ninja-themed update and a thrilling crossover with the Terminator franchise.
Critical and player acclaim centers on Black Ops 6's diverse and engaging missions, preventing gameplay monotony and consistently surprising players. The game's refined shooting mechanics and innovative movement system, allowing for omnidirectional movement and shooting in various positions (including while falling or prone), have received significant praise.
The approximately eight-hour campaign length has also been lauded as a well-balanced experience, neither too brief nor overly protracted. Positive player feedback largely aligns with critical reception, particularly regarding the Zombies mode and the campaign itself.
