Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau Boss Fight Guide

Known Habitats: Windward Plains Breakable Parts: Horns, Wings, Tail Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x) Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod
Rey Dau, the first dragon you'll face in Monster Hunter Wilds, possesses the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's significantly vulnerable to water and ice. Prioritize attacking its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Utilize all status ailments except Stun and Paralysis.
Use a Flash Pod
Employing Flash Pods is a highly effective tactic. The temporary stun they inflict provides crucial openings for powerful attacks. Capitalize on this during Rey Dau's lightning attacks, focusing on its horns (which glow bright red in Focus Mode) for maximum damage.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Fortify your defenses with element-resistant gear. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill (reducing damage and offering resistance to Lightning and Fire), is an excellent choice. Consider also consuming meals that boost elemental resistance. If dodging proves difficult, stay close to Rey Dau's legs; it primarily attacks areas in front and behind.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's flight patterns will take it across the Windward Plains. Utilize the Vine Traps near the lone tree to briefly stun it, but exercise caution near its nest, where it unleashes a powerful follow-up lightning attack.
How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health to near-death (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap), then deploy a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective). Quickly follow up with a Tranquilizer before it escapes.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
