Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 game, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his original vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS battle mechanics, letting players freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations enhance the gameplay experience.
Players earn coins to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization options allow players to equip units with a range of weapons and armor pieces, impacting stats such as attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, players must craft them within their village. Gathering resources like wood, leather, and coal is crucial for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, and other village specialists.
Frenken's prior success with Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating, is well-known. Herodom offers over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Players unlock new character customizations and farm elements as they progress.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For updates and further information on this promising RTS-lite, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. His other games are also available on the App Store.
