ASTRA: Knights of Veda Bids Farewell to English Dubbing

Following a trend among gacha games, ASTRA: Knights of Veda will be removing its English voiceovers after maintenance on January 23, 2025. This decision, announced by developer FLINT, aims to enhance game stability and improve the quality of other language localizations.

The January 23rd maintenance will also remove support for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. While English text will remain, in-game voice acting will default to Japanese for players outside of Korea. FLINT assures players this change won't affect in-game chat functionality in any previously supported language.

This move follows similar decisions by other gacha game developers. Square Enix's War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius phased out English dubbing for new content in May 2024, prioritizing Japanese. Yostar Games' Aether Gazer completely removed English voiceovers in February 2024 due to financial constraints, redirecting resources to gameplay and future content. Snowbreak: Containment Zone also dropped English dubbing in December 2023, citing an evaluation of player preferences and optimization efforts.

The trend suggests a prioritization of either player language preference (focusing on the most popular language) or resource management (reducing long-term costs associated with voice acting). This allows developers to allocate resources towards maintaining and improving other aspects of the game, ensuring its continued success.

While this change may disappoint some players, FLINT remains committed to providing a positive gaming experience. The removal of English voiceovers is a strategic decision aimed at improving the overall game for the long term.
