Assassin's Creed Shadows Introduces New Ally with Critical Role Star

By JosephDec 08,2025

Robbie Daymond of Critical Role joins the Assassin's Creed Shadows cast next week as Rufino, a new recruitable ally for protagonists Yasuke and Naoe.

Daymond originally created Rufino for a promotional one-shot. The character sports a lavish mustache and wears a Portuguese-style doublet.

Rufino becomes available in the next free game update on Wednesday, June 25. This continues Ubisoft's post-launch story content, following an earlier Dead by Daylight crossover mission.

Previous story add-ons offered roughly 20 minutes of gameplay. As one of only six recruitable allies, Rufino has potential for greater impact.

His exact role remains unclear. Can he join battles like other allies? Is romance an option? Or will he simply remain at the hideout? Answers arrive next week.

Ubisoft confirmed the June update includes new difficulty settings, immersion options, and an open-world alarm system. A highly requested feature to toggle headgear in cutscenes will also be added.

Future plans include New Game Plus, additional story crossovers, and the first major expansion—Claws of Awaji—which continues the main story and adds a new Japanese region to explore before 2025 ends.
