Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam
Details regarding the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji," have seemingly surfaced via a now-removed Steam update, according to reports from Insider Gaming. This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the franchise's first foray into 16th-century Japan, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative reactions to character reveals and multiple release date postponements. The latest delay pushes the launch to March 20, 2025.
The leaked Steam update, now deleted, detailed "Claws of Awaji," revealing a new region to explore, alongside a fresh weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" expansion and a bonus mission.
DLC Leak Follows Recent Delay
The leak emerged following Ubisoft's announcement of yet another delay. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, the release was first shifted to February 14, 2025, and then again to March 20, 2025, to allow for further polishing and refinement.
This news arrives amidst uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, with rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition circulating. The company has recently faced challenges with several high-profile releases underperforming financially.
