Alienware Offers Major Discounts on RTX 4090 Gaming PCs

By ChloeAug 09,2025

The GeForce RTX 4090, though a generation behind the new Blackwell 50 series GPUs, remains one of the most powerful graphics cards available, surpassing the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 4080 Super, Radeon RX 9070 XT, and RX 7900 XTX. Only the RTX 5090 outperforms it, but finding one without a steep markup is nearly impossible.

With the RTX 4090 now discontinued, availability is dwindling. Fortunately, Dell offers two prebuilt gaming PCs equipped with this GPU at competitive prices. The Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC starts at $2,999.99, while the Dell Tower Plus gaming PC begins at $2,849.99. These are currently the best deals for RTX 4090-equipped systems, as other brands like Lenovo and HP no longer offer prebuilt PCs with this GPU.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC features an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. You can upgrade to an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, but for gaming, the standard CPU is sufficient. High-resolution gaming relies heavily on the GPU, and the Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, with a 5.3GHz max turbo frequency and 20 cores, performs admirably. It’s paired with a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The Dell Tower Plus gaming PC may look understated, but its performance is exceptional. It includes an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. For an extra $100, upgrading to the Intel Core Ultra 7 285K is recommended, as it also enhances cooling from standard air to an advanced tower heatsink fan rated for 125W TDP instead of 65W. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

How does the RTX 4090 compare to newer GPUs?

The RTX 4090 is the top-performing GPU in the RTX 40 series. Among Blackwell cards, only the $2,000 MSRP RTX 5090 surpasses it. The RTX 4090 delivers smooth 4K gaming, achieving 60+ fps at maximum settings with ray tracing enabled, especially with DLSS support. While it may struggle with path tracing, this setting is rarely used outside benchmarks. The RTX 5090 offers more power, but for most gamers, the RTX 4090 provides exceptional performance for nearly all gaming needs.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU Review by Chris Coke

"The RTX 4090 is large and costly, but its performance is unmatched. As the only card of its generation currently available, it outshines older GPUs. With its impressive specs and DLSS 3 technology, the $1,599 price feels justified for the exceptional frame rates it delivers."

Dell offers an Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC with the new GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for $2,499.99, including shipping. The RTX 5080 is one of three scarce Blackwell GPUs. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "For those with recent high-end GPUs, the RTX 5080 offers minimal performance gains over the RTX 4080, though DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation enhances supported games. For gamers upgrading from older cards, the RTX 5080 delivers a significant performance boost, especially with Nvidia’s AI features."
