Alicia Silverstone to Star in Clueless Sequel Series

By AnthonyOct 15,2025

As if anyone could resist seeing Alicia Silverstone back in her signature yellow plaid. The legendary actress is reportedly returning to her star-making role as Cher Horowitz in an upcoming Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

Variety reports the series is currently in development, though plot specifics remain tightly under wraps. Confirmed details include Silverstone's participation, the continuation of the original 1995 film's storyline, and key creative personnel. Notably, this marks a fresh approach distinct from Peacock's abandoned 2020 spinoff concept.

The creative team features Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage - the visionary duo behind both versions of Gossip Girl - co-writing with Jordan Weiss. All three will serve as executive producers alongside Amy Heckerling (Clueless' original writer-director) and Robert Lawrence (the film's producer). CBS Studios and Universal Television are attached as production partners.

This isn't Hollywood's first attempt to adapt the beloved '90s comedy for television. Following the film's success, a TV version ran from 1996-1999 across ABC and UPN, with Rachel Blanchard assuming the lead role.

Silverstone recently delighted fans by briefly reprising Cher in Rakuten's 2023 Super Bowl ad - proving she's clearly eager to revisit her most iconic character. Frankly, we wouldn't expect anything less.
