2025's First Deadlock Update: Surprisingly Small

By OliviaJun 15,2025

With Valve returning from the New Year break, fans of their various titles were eager to see what 2025 had in store. The first *Deadlock* update of the year arrived quietly and came as a surprise to many—especially given that the game had recently moved away from its bi-weekly patch cycle. Fans anticipated something more substantial, but instead, this latest patch was notably light in content.

The update focused primarily on one hero: Yamato. His Shadow Transformation ability saw minor adjustments, including reduced damage scaling and a slightly lowered attack speed bonus at level one. Alongside that, several of his abilities—Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot—were toned down, while Alchemical Fire received a small rework.

Given the brevity of this patch, it's likely players will need to wait for a larger, more comprehensive update in the near future. However, with no official schedule or timeline released by Valve, predicting when that might happen remains a challenge.

It’s also worth noting that *Deadlock* has seen a noticeable drop in player numbers recently. While some may have shifted focus to other games like *Marvel Rivals*, the current online player count—ranging between 7,000 and 19,000—still represents a solid base for a game in deep beta. That said, Valve has yet to provide details regarding a potential release date or any monetization plans moving forward.
