MauMau, a beloved card game in Germany, is a thrilling variant of the classic Crazy Eights. This engaging game is played with a standard 32-card deck, and each player starts with 5 or 6 cards, depending on the agreed rules. The objective is straightforward yet exhilarating: be the first to discard all your cards and claim victory. The gameplay revolves around players taking turns to match either the suit or the value of the card previously played, which keeps everyone on their toes.
Adding a layer of strategy and excitement, certain cards in MauMau come with special powers. For instance, if you play a seven, the next player is compelled to draw two cards, potentially disrupting their strategy. An eight, on the other hand, forces the next player to skip their turn, giving you a chance to catch up or pull ahead. The jack is the most versatile card; it can be played at any time and allows the player to choose the suit for the next play, adding a dynamic twist to the game's flow.
