Little Bee

The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) is excited to introduce the Little Bee Spelling App, perfect for children aged 4 to 9. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), this app is designed to make learning spelling fun and engaging.

The KCNK Little Bee Game offers three exciting modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode. You can play it anywhere, anytime, without needing an internet connection. Each mode features 10 levels, with words getting longer as you progress. Every level includes at least 15 words to master, and the same set of words is used across all modes.

In the Settings, students can input their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose their preferred mode to start spelling.

Learning Mode 1: In this mode, children learn to spell by tapping each letter of a word from left to right. The app pronounces each letter, helping kids learn as they go. If a mistake is made, it's easy to correct by tapping on the error. To hear the word again, just tap the little bee icon at the top left. Students must spell each word correctly to move to the next one and complete the level. You can retry any level anytime, but you need to finish earlier levels before moving on.

Learning Mode 2: Here, the letters of each word are mixed up, and children must arrange them correctly. If a mistake is made, it can be undone by tapping on it. The little bee icon lets you hear the word again. Like in Learning Mode 1, you must spell all words correctly to complete a level and can retry levels at any time, but you need to finish earlier levels first.

Competition Mode: This mode adds an exciting twist with jumbled letters and extra letters thrown in. Students are timed as they spell 10 random words from each level's pool. The goal is to complete each level as quickly as possible. The leaderboard on the main page shows how much time was spent on each level.

Students can reset the game from the Settings page. It's important to wait until a letter is fully pronounced before selecting the next one. Both students and parents can take screenshots of the leaderboard to share with teachers.
