Dominoes, also known as dominos, is a classic board game enjoyed with rectangular tiles known as "dominoes." These gaming pieces, often referred to as bones, cards, tiles, tickets, stones, or spinners, come in various sets. The traditional Sino-European set contains 28 dominoes, each divided into two square ends marked with spots or left blank. Beyond the standard set, extended sets like double 9 and double 12 are used for games such as Mexican Train and Chicken Foot. Each country boasts its unique take on dominoes; for instance, England enjoys Muggins (All Fives), Scandinavian countries play Bergen, Mexico loves Mexican Train, and Spain plays Matador.

The origins of dominoes trace back to Song Dynasty China, with the game making its way to Italy in the 18th century. The evolution from Chinese to modern dominoes remains a mystery, yet the game has grown into a global phenomenon.

General Rules of Dominoes:

Blocking Game:

The simplest form is played with a double six set by two players. After shuffling the 28 tiles, each player draws seven, leaving the rest unused. Players place their tiles on-edge, visible only to themselves, and begin by laying down the first tile to start the line of play. This line grows as players add tiles with matching values at either end. The game concludes when a player plays their last tile or when the game blocks, with no possible moves left. Points are then calculated based on remaining tiles.

Scoring Game:

In scoring variants, points are earned for specific configurations or moves. In Muggins, players score by making the ends of the layout sum to multiples of five. In Bergen, points are scored when open ends match. Mexican Train awards 50 points for playing the double zero domino. If a player fails to call "domino" before playing a tile and another player calls it out, the first player must draw an extra tile.

Draw Game:

In draw games, players can take additional tiles from the stock before playing. The game's score is calculated from the pips on the losing player's hand plus those in the stock, with two tiles usually remaining in the stock. Commonly known simply as "dominos," this format allows for strategic depth and extended play.

With the latest update to version 3.3.5 on February 20, 2024, we've fixed several bugs to enhance your gaming experience. Mexican Train is now available, and you can enjoy playing dominoes online with the draw game, block game, and Muggins (All Fives) for free!
