Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!

Love Sudoku? Battle of Sudoku lets you compete against other players or teams in a fast-paced, multiplayer version of this classic puzzle game. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so that each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before you begin, choose a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 being hardest). This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Every player starts with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players, earning you points. You can't place a number already used by another player. Speed and accuracy are key!
• Hidden Correct Numbers: Players can't see each other's correct numbers. This allows for simultaneous placement of the same numbers, increasing the potential for strategic play.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect number placements result in a time-out (default: 30 seconds, configurable). You're temporarily blocked from making moves while others continue.

Scoring:

Correct numbers earn points based on difficulty level (higher level = more points). Incorrect numbers cost you points (half the value of a correct placement).

Winning the Game:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. In "Hidden Correct Numbers" mode, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win with fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Team mode lets two teams compete. Join a team (1 or 2), and if at least two players join, the team is formed. Points are shared, and notes/colors are visible to teammates, fostering collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle provides helpful tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares as potential candidates. Clicking a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of any square (including solved ones).
